Director, maker, performer, dramaturg & programmer.

Laura Killeen hails from London and graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, NYC, where she was awarded the Anne Meacham Memorial Scholarship. Laura received an MA with Distinction in Text & Performance from RADA & Birkbeck, University of London. 

In New York, she spent a year interning and working at The Juilliard School Drama Division under Founding Artistic Director of Signature Theatre, Jim Houghton. She also co-founded and co-hosted Penny Lou’s Corn Show - the underground, all-American, queer variety show - with drag queen Penny Lou Chrysler.

She has directed plays at the The Pleasance Theatre, Cambridge Junction, Theatre Royal Plymouth, The Exchange Twickenham, Summerhall and RADA Festival.

Laura regularly works with playwrights, solo performers, stand-up comedians and theatre companies as a dramaturg.

A published writer, her work has been performed in Tel Aviv, London and NYC.

Her solo performance in Homewrecka won Best Experimental Film at the Syracuse International Film Festival 2010, garnering such reviews as “she traumatized me”- Ed Harris. Other film credits include Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Art of Getting By, Me and Orson Welles and the award winning short film English. She has performed in numerous plays in London, in NYC and at three edfringes. She has also performed in radio, art, performance art and music videos. 

Laura writes, directs and performs as part of Degenerate Fox (the London Neo-Futurists), for whom she was Managing Director and Co-Artistic Director November 2017 - January 2023. They have performed at numerous festivals including VAULT, Crystal Palace Festival and edfringe. In 2020, Degenerate Fox moved their live show online, creating the award winning and globe-spanning The Dirty 30 II: Electric Pay-Per-View.

Laura has been the Artistic Director at the Rosemary Branch Theatre since the summer of 2021. She programmes work year round as well as for the festivals she has created there - Look for the Woman and The Curious Puppets Festival.
